Coinkydinks.

So yesterday was one of those days where I had to figure out what was going on. Was it fate or a coinkydink (coincidence for those who think I'm insane...I just like the way coinkydink sounds)? Anyhow, apparently, on my way to work yesterday, I picked up a construction screw. The tire held air til I got to work, where I realized, after I had pulled out of the parking space and was in the driveway that my tire was totally flat. I had no clue what I was going to do. My spare is DOA and the can of fix-a-flat I had somehow had lost it's cap, so I couldn't use it to fill up the tire. Well, I'm standing there, calling everyone. Apparently, no one on campus puts air in tires.....I got transferred to about 4 different offices before I gave up. About that time, a really nice lady came along and offered to give me a rid to Wally World to pick up said can and bring me back. Along the way, I found out that she is from Cuba, but, strangely enough, she came here through Operation Pedro Pan, the same operation that brought my father and uncle here. Operation Pedro Pan only brought over 40,000 kids, so for me to meet one who was not a relative is pretty hard to imagine. Even more strange is that she's here in San Antonio. Last census, there were only 1,300 Cubans in San Antonio. So, if I hadn't had the flat, I never would have met her. We're planning on going out to lunch one of these days, but I'm just amazed at the way the world works.

Blah........

I am so blah today......Chris and I have been busily getting the old apartment ready for the move out while moving stuff into the new house. I missed class last night so I could help Chris out. We're almost done, but it seems like it will never end.... I really do love the house. It's so much more room (or at least it feels that way) and there is a great backyard! I can't wait til we can get out there and plant stuff. We still have four million boxes to unpack, but it will get done soon enough.

The wedding is now less than 5 months away. There is still so much to do and get ready for it. We have to finish making the cruise ship for the gift table and put together the thing that is going behind the bridal party. We haven't even started that. Next month, we'll be working on getting the rest of the stuff for the invitations (gift registry information and the map for out-of-town guests). I get fitted next week for the dress and the girls are supposed to be fitted very soon so Z. can start working on their dresses. I'm so excited that she's making them...she is so talented when it comes to making clothes. It feels like there is still 4 million things left to do. Sometimes, I think about just eloping because it would be easier, but that's not what this is about. He and I both want to be in the churh, in front of everyone, pledging our lives to each other in the context of our faith. We want our friends and family there, too, because of how important that day is going to be for us.

I still wonder how some things will get done, but I guess it will all work out in the end. My great friends are going to be helping out, making side dishes for the wedding. We're getting brisket from Rudy's along with the beans, so with homemade side dishes, this will end up being a real feast.

Man, I just want a nap.....this weekend will be here soon enough to sleep!
